The winner of the is 2011 tournament held last April â€" as is usually the case â€" was one of the worst golfers there. Just like two years before that, it was Mariano 'Bean" Ayala, now director of the Brownsville Visitors and Convention Bureau<br />ICE Supervisor Jesus "Chuy" Ramos, from San Antonio, was the emcee at the event.<br />"A guy was complaining that he and his partner had lower scores than me and I turned around and told him that that was the reason the tournament was called "Las Ratas," because we had stolen the award," Ayala recalled. "I had told the organizers before hand that I wouldn't accept the award anymore unless they kissed my behind," Ayala said. "When they called me up to present the award after a woman golfer had beat me on a drive, I pulled down my pants to show a pair of bright red boxers with numerous white lip imprints on them. Then I sat down and they called Jody."<br />The event was attended by a a large number of active-duty and retired federal agents, some of who did not appreciate the costume worn by Young in front of them.<br />"A lot of us found it highly offensive," said a tournament participant who retired from federal service. "Here's a federal prosecutor wearing a KKK hood and a ridiculous Mexican peasant sombrero in front a predominantly minority audience. It was insulting to us. We couldn't believe he was doing that."<br />A cursory Google check of AUSA Young shows that he is one of the principal prosecutors in recent cases involving, among others, the Abel Limas corruption case, former state Representative Jim Solis, as well as other high-profile cases against the Gulf Cartel including Osiel Cardenas Guillen, among others. He is also involved in the ongoing cases against other local Hispanic officials.<br />"Maybe 99 percent of the defendants in federal court are Hispanic and â€" oh yeah, one Jew, that attorney from Austin," said a law-enforcement officer who participated in the event. "Imagine, here's a white federal prosecutor wearing a KKK hood when his boss United States Attorney General Eric Holder is black as is Barack Obama, the president of the United Sates of America. Then he is working in South Texas where the majority of the population â€" and the defendants in federal court â€" are Hispanic. Even one of our federal judges is Hispanic. What does that tell you about the way he thinks?
