A product of Philadelphia who fell in love with a Brownsville girl, Kenney followed her to the border to make a buck. He has made two.

Available at brownsvilleblues.blogspot.com, Brownsville Blues presents Kenney unplugged. He takes the opportunity to give a unplugged version of Dr. G.F. McHale-Scully, the blog publisher and controversial journalist and writer.

"Way to put pinche McHale in his place," said Maclovio O'Malley. "I invited him to make a guest appearance on my internet radio show and he nearly cost me my credibility with the public. He doesn't respect the opportunity you give him. I don't know about the Irish part, but you're absolutely right: He's a prick!"

"Thank-you for telling the truth about McHale," echoed blogger extraordinaire Bobby Wightman-Cervantes, the disbarred lawyer who makes more money in court than practicing attorneys. "I know that you want to give the impression that you're happy as a heterosexual, but if you ever want your anus titillated, I'll tickle you like you've never been ticked before."

"I appreciate your attempt in your honest evaluation of Dr. G.F. McHale-Scully," said George Ramirez, the don of downtown. "But as you already know, it won't do any good. I have told him point-blank that he is full of shit, but he's an artist. He may not be a very good one, but he has all the flaws of those scattered thinkers who walk the tightrope between sanity and insanity."

"I like Jerry," offered Ralph Cowen, a Port of Brownsville commissioner. "He could be so positive as you point out, but he prefers the negative approach. It is unfortunate. It's more than unfortunate. It's sad. No! It's tragic. And now I hear that he's not drinking. Nothing is worst than a reformed sinner. Save us from his righteousness, God!"

"I know that my good friend Dr. McHale-Scully has brought you much heartache," offered Tony Gray, State Representative Rene Oliveira's legislative assistant. "He has brought all of us much heartache. That's the price one pays for associating with a genius.

"But I can tell you that privately and publicly he always speaks very highly of you. In all honestly, you have dissed him on many occasions to his face and behind his back, but he has never allowed your moments of weakness to overshadow your many great strengths that he proclaims to others. My only advice to you is if you're going to treat him to a drink, treat him to a quality drink. You know better than I do how the Irish deplore cheapskates."

CHANNEL FOUR CHALLENGES CAMPOS' FIRING!
---------------------------------------------------------------
Those in power despise negative publicity. They particularly lose sleep when one of their questionable decisions suddenly finds itself the subject of media coverage.

Channel Four's sports anchor Clay Williams is on air demanding answers from BISD Superintendent Carl Montoya and Hanna Principal Teri Alarcon for the unexpected termination of Eagles head football coach Tom Campos and his sudden reassignment to Lopez High School as an English teacher.

The usually sedate Williams could hardly contain his outrage on television. He quoted the superintendent's overflowing praise for Campos' work as head football coach and then sought a logical explanation for Campos' firing two days later.

"Two days!" Williams kept repeating. "Two days!"

Williams continued his tirade interviewing Hanna stalwarts Noe Robles and Jesse James San Miguel at a local restaurant surrounded by several teammates who were meeting to protest Campos' treatment and insist on his reinstatement. They wore Hanna yellow T-shirts with the inscription: "We can't have a commUnIty without U & I."

"We want answers," said Robles. "We want facts. He deserves more than two years."

"He's passionate," echoed San Miguel. "He's doing great. He's like a second father to us."

First and foremost, did Campos merit another year?

"He took over a program that had graduated a team of seniors with a weak junior varsity program," offered Max Maxwell, dean of the Rio Grande Valley sportswriters. "The cupboard was empty. He eked out one win last year and three wins this year.

"He showed definite progress. For 2012 he was returning a veteran squad with playoff possibilities. In summation, he displayed he could coach football with his best prospects before him. Did something happen off the field that led to his dismissal?"

There are two BISDs. There are the teachers and the students whose top priority is education and there are the administrators and board members whose top priority is economics. For teachers and students, it's about people. For the administrators and board members, it's about politics. Is Campos a victim of politics?

"There is an alleged reason for his firing and there is the purported reason for his firing," explained Maxwell. "According to my coaching connections, Campos told his players that they should remain at Hanna and play football rather than transferring to the new magnet school at Veterans. This sale's pitch qualified as insubordination in the estimation of his superiors. That's the alleged reason.

"The purported reason, in the opinion of the same coaches, is more sinister and a classic example of BISD politics. Sylvia Atkinson, BISD's second-in-command, doesn't appreciate Athletic Director Tom Chavez from previous A.D. Joe Rodriguez's perspective. She would like to replace him with El Paso Athletic Director and former Pace volleyball coach Paula Gonzalez.

"Chavez isn't comfortable as a bureaucrat and has expressed interest in returning to the football ranks. Campos' elimination allows the dominoes to fall perfectly into place."

Will the BISD not only explain to the Hanna athletes the reason for Campos' downfall, but will the school district explain to the community its reason or reasons for its treatment of an individual of Campos' personal and professional integrity? Should all BISD employees fear for their futures?

"In a democracy it's truly mind-boggling that a dictatorial attitude reigns," remarked a well-respected educator. "Those in power appreciate democracy for putting them in office, but they find democracy an inconvenience once they're in office."
